Doberman: reviews. “Doberman can’t do without a dog handler”
Why exactly dobermans?
Doberman was a childhood dream. But, of course, no one else wanted to start it, because they lived in a small apartment. I read a lot of books, went to agility (and at first with a neighbor's dog, since I didn’t have mine) and smoothly went on to get a Doberman. I really liked that these are big dogs, and workers who will not just sit on the sofa at home.

What is Doberman’s character?
Doberman was bred as a bodyguard dog. They are very attached to the owner and dependent on him, but if you are in danger, she will not wait for your team, but she will decide to protect you.
From experience: With my current male, we started to defend at 5 monthsev andafter a month of classes, I began to notice that he independently “monitors” people who cause him to suspect.
For the most part, Dobermans are choleric or sanguine, very often the mixed type prevails. Since now the breed is popular and people who are not very responsible in breeding issues are involved in breeding, the majority of Dobermans are choleric: motile, restless, and at some points hysterical. Less common sanguine - dogs are quite balanced, peaceful, stable to various stimuli. And although in films and in clips they are presented as “Cerberus dogs”, in fact, this is not so. With proper upbringing, if a puppy grows up in love and affection, this is a kind, absolutely adequate dog that does not fear anything and communicates well with both adults and children. But even choleric, if you work with him, work and work again, will become a good dog.

My oldest dog, Gracie, is a pronounced choleric, and not very successful breeding. She is panicky afraid of shots - so much so that she clogs in a closet and hides there. She is not stupid at all, very sociable, but from over-excitement begins to bark. And although she had a good socialization in her childhood, she does not like other dogs at all: she does not show aggression, she simply tries to be as far away from them as possible.
And my male Till is a fairly solid sanguine person, balanced and calm.
If we talk about the breed as a whole, Dobermans are brave, mentally stable, friendly dogs, ready to jerk to the ends of the world together with their owner.

Dobermans are very mobile, like active running, swimming. This dog is not for the lazy owner. I would even say that, ideally, this dog is not for an apartment, but for a private house, but with content not on the street, because of the short coat, the Doberman is very freezing, and in winter it needs to be put on in jumpsuit or blanket when you go for a walk.
Doberman is not prone to unmotivated aggression. If the dog is mentally healthy, they will not beat and torture her, for no reason she will not show aggression. And the first they do not climb into the fray.
From experience: Doberman coexists wonderfully with other animals. In addition to the Dobermans, we have a cat, and quite a characteristic one. He adores dogs and plays with them. They sleep together. And in general, Dobermans treat all animals very well, even if they are horses, goats or sheep. The main thing is proper education.

Doberman is quite patient, but it is better to take a dog to a family with children when the children grow up a little and understand what is good and what is bad. If it so happened that you have a Doberman and a child has appeared, as a rule, there are no problems either - these dogs are very kind and kind to children. But only if the dogs were brought up.
Is it easy to train a Doberman?
Dobermans are very trained, no matter what they say. This is an “official”, he has in his blood a craving for work on the site and the ability to quickly learn. But the fact that not all people know how to properly train is another question.
Doberman is a dog with which you need to visit a dog handler. It doesn't matter if you have the first dog or not. Even if you have experience, training with a dog handler is better than self-study. Moreover, it is worth choosing a specialist who has already worked with Dobermans and knows the specifics of the breed.

From experience: Dobermans are easy to learn, but sometimes they love to hack things, and they need to show that training is really interesting for the dog to think: “It's fun with you! I want to play with you, not bite you and be afraid. ” After all, the initial training - this is, in fact, a game.
Doberman - as a pioneer, "always ready." He gladly joins in any activity and very easily motivates. But there is still a question of individual preferences. Some people like the toy more, and some like the sweetie. My dogs work great on both. But most of all, a Doberman loves a person, and a person is the best entertainment.

Doberman is a universal dog. It can be taught both in service disciplines (IPO, ZKS, etc.) and in tricks. I know a lot of Dobermans who can assemble children's pyramids from ringlets, make a hare or walk on their hind legs. There are even circus acts featuring Dobermans. Despite the stereotypes of formidable appearance, the Doberman can also participate in canistherapy.
How Dobermans Are Healthy Dogs?
The average life expectancy of modern Dobermans is 9 to 10 years. It is not enough, but such is the reality.
Modern Dobermans very often die from heart problems. This is due to an insufficiently responsible approach to selection. In addition, Dobermans have now become larger, and this also had an effect on health, because the larger the dog, the greater the load on the body, including the heart.
Another problem is dysplasia, as large dogs have a large load on the joints.
From experience: It is very important to choose the right breeder and correctly raise a puppy. Much attention should be paid to the parents of the pet, so that in genetics they are “clean”.
Some dogs have tremors - a nervous disease.
Dobermans are prone to allergies, especially food.
Otherwise, Dobermans are relatively strong dogs. But in Belarus, because of problems with breeding a healthy puppy, a Doberman is extremely difficult to find.

How to feed a doberman?
Eating for Dobermans is a favorite thing! Of course, they are not such food workers as Labradors, but they don’t complain about appetite. They love everything: dry food, meat or a cookie that you can drag away. I have not met fastidious Dobermans.
Although they have a sense of proportion, and they are able to say “stop” to themselves. My dog can leave a serving half-eaten if he considers himself to be full. Although this happens extremely rarely, there are too many who are happy to eat. In a large family, do not click the beak.
From experience: My dogs are on natural food. First of all, I like to know exactly what my dog eats, so I can combine the composition on my own, based on the needs of the pet. This is not only meat, but also offal, and vegetables, eggs, fish. Secondly, I’m not too lazy to go choose and buy products in different places, although it takes a lot of time.
A day, Doberman eats about 1.2 kg of meat, offal and vegetables.
My dog loves vegetables and even steals them. He does not need meat - give zucchini. And if he sees a zucchini, he no longer sees anything around him.

Is it difficult to care for a Doberman?
There is a myth that smooth-haired dogs molt less than long-haired ones. It is not true. Dobermans molt, and quite strongly and almost all year round. This is not a feature of the breed, but rather the climate. Moreover, the wool resembles needles, which are clogged everywhere, and it is very difficult to pull them out. Wet cleaning is carried out in the apartment at least 1 time per day.

After eating, the Doberman needs to wipe his face, otherwise he will do it perfectly himself, for example, about you or about the sofa. This must be done so that irritation does not pour out on the face.
From experience: Gracie is pretty tidy, bypasses puddles. But Till, like a tank, goes into the dirt itself. But if you take the river, even dirty and smelly, more likely that Gracie will climb there, and regardless of the time of year. But, despite this, the Doberman is not the dog that will happily wallow in the mud. After the walk, we wash the dogs paws and belly with a shower.
In general, there are no difficulties in caring for the Doberman.
